Goodreads summary:

When nineteen-year old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin โ€“ one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled the world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning sheโ€™s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop itโ€ฆor doom Tamlin โ€“ and his world โ€“ forever.

What are my over-all thoughts in this book? (spoiler free)

If I could put my feelings for this book in one word, it probably would be beautifulfantasticandabsolutelyoneofthemostperfectbooksiveeverread. So, yeah. Obviously, I loved it. I have read all of Sarah J. Maasโ€™s books by now and I therefore conclude that all her books are so good and amazing, and ACOTAR is definitely not an exception. If I could rate this more than five stars, I would. Plus, like a typical SJM book, ACOTAR HAS A MAP! (which all of us knows is an early sign of a bookโ€™s impending awesomeness).

This story talks about the world of the Fae (Sarah has an amazing fascination for the Fae world as it is obvious in her books) which I find very interesting and entertaining to read. The Fae world in the Throne of Glass series is so epic and wonderful for me but I honestly would like to live in this Fae world more. Oh, and by the way the land of the Fae is called Prythian. (Where does Sarah get all these amazingly creative names of people and places?) One of the main reasons why I would want to live there? One word, my friends. TAMLIN. And because of the presence of magic, of course! (But yes, for the most part itโ€™s because of Tamlin. *sighs dreamily*)

Its story line loosely follows one like Beauty and the Beastโ€™s where the lead guy is cursed and the curse could only be lifted by one girl who could fall in love with him despite his flaws. But this book is hugely distinct compared to Beauty and the Beast. Sarah J. Maas just has this special touch with her books that you could never not love.

Like the rest of her books, I found it very easy to get lost in this world in the best way possible. And I actually didnโ€™t want to finish it so fast because I wanted to stay in that world, with those characters, a bit longer. The characters are also different from each other which makes it all the more engaging. It was hard to let go of this book, you guys.

Iโ€™d also like to acknowledge how I very much appreciate the female protagonist in this book. Feyre. Characters like her are one of the reasons why I love books like this so much โ€“ they inspire me. Feyre is the breadwinner of her family despite her being the youngest of three sisters. Sheโ€™s brave and clever and practically the kind of person I eventually want to be.

Youโ€™ll get to know Tamlin, Feyre and all the other characters in this book and see their awesomeness for yourself. So if you havenโ€™t read it yet, I suggest you do ;D

This book has so much epicness and adventure in it, youโ€™d want to reach for the next book! *A Court of Mist and Fury (out 2016, May 3rd)*

Okay. Ships are the first thing Iโ€™d like to talk about this book.

I have been hearing lots of opinions expressing thoughts of shipping Feyre with Rhysand. And seeing as my ship in the Throne of Glass series is Chaolaena, I guess you wouldnโ€™t be surprised that I ship Feyre with Tamlin. (Although if Feyre wants Rhysand instead, I can have Tamlin so everythingโ€™s still good.)

But I am kind of nervous for ACOMAF because in Sarahโ€™s books, there is a high possibility in which you ship one couple for one minute, and a whole new one the next. (Like how people instantly shipped Rowaelin after reading Queen of Shadows).

Also, did anyone ever realize it was a Beauty-and-the-Beast-esque story while reading it? Because I surprisingly didnโ€™t. I only realized it after I read it then thought back on the book. With that being said, I think the revelation of the curse was one of the highlights in the book, and me being a book crier and all, I practically silently sobbed while Feyre and Alis were having the conversation about Tamlinโ€™s curse and how she couldโ€™ve broken his curse WITH THREEE BLOODY DAYS TO SPARE. BUT TAMLIN LET HER GO. HE LET GO BECAUSE SHE WAS IN DANGER AND LETTING HER GO WAS THE ONLY WAY HE THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO KEEP FEYRE SAFE โ€“ EVEN IF IT MEANT NOT CURING THE CURSE.

He loved Feyre and Feyre loved him. It was as simple as that. The romance between them was so beautiful and charming to read and made me feel warm and fuzzy because I love them. I just love them both to pieces.

Here are two of my favorite scenes in the whole book:

โ€œI suppose itโ€™ll be easier when Iโ€™m gone,โ€ I said, looking away from him. โ€œWho wants someone around whoโ€™s so covered in thorns?โ€

โ€œThorns?โ€

โ€œThorny. Prickly. Sour. Contrary.โ€

[โ€ฆ]

As consciousness left me at last, I thought I heard him speak, his mouth close to my ear.

โ€œI love you,โ€ he whispered, and kissed my brow. โ€œThorns and all.โ€

Also, I love the part when Feyre eventually decided to go back to Prythian and face Amarantha to free Tamlin and his people of the curse and Amarantha made her do tasks in order to prove her love for Tamlin was indeed true. I loved it when she used those bones as her ladder from the wormโ€™s pit. I was actually smiling so wide because I felt like Rhysand at that moment: beaming with pride for Feyre and betting all my coppers sheโ€™d defeat the worm.

What are my theories for the next book?

I know so far, Sarah doesnโ€™t have those hobbies of killing characters we love so dearly, but in truth, I am quite nervous of the possible deaths of characters in the next books. (Maybe the next one or the one after the next.) I actually donโ€™t want to name names soโ€ฆ

I also feel that Amarantha might still be alive because of Jurianโ€™s bone and eye missing. I somehow feel that Amarantha is still lurking because a part of her is in the bone and eye. And it makes me worry for Prythian a lot.

  1. ๐Ÿ˜€ this book is amazing! it was the first Sarah J. Maas book I read, and it actually made me pick up all the others. I do think that the next villain will be the Fae King or whatever from that other kingdom, Amarantha’s boss. And SJM said that the next book could bring a love interest for Lucien, so I’m excited for that ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I totally agree with you! I hope Lucien won’t lose any more love interests and Tamlin and Feyre live hapilly ever after. Hahaha. This wait to ACOMAF will be painfully long. ๐Ÿ˜…

    1. Thanks CW!!! YOU SHOULD GO BUY IT NOW. It’s worth every page. Many people ship Rhysand than Tamlin so I really want you to read it and get to know your thoughts about it, too! ๐Ÿ˜„ Haha

  3. I ship Tamlin and Feyre, mainly because I ship Rhys with myself XD. I am crossing my fingers for there not to be a love triangle because I can’t handle anymore SJM love triangles, or squares, or whatever other shapes there are.

    1. Hahaha! What’s your ship name? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Me, on the other hand, ships herself with Tamlin bc *sighs dreamily* he’s perfect. But I’ll let Feyre have him for now. Plus, I don’t wanna get your hopes down but we should expect quite a lot love whatever-shapes-there-are in Sarah’s books ๐Ÿ˜‚
