NOVEMBER WRAP-UP + DECEMBER TBR

Howdy ya’ll! Time zones aside, today more or less likely marks the end of November and the start of the merry month of December! I see a lot of people on my twitter timeline changing their names into Christmas-y ones which I think it’s adorkably creative. It also helps me to feel the Christmas season even more thanks to the weather we are currently experiencing here in our country. ‘tis the season to welcome Sweater Weather once more!

On to today’s post, I’ll be wrapping up the books I have read for November as well as sharing some books I plan to read for next month. So let’s get started 😀

NOVEMBER WRAP-UP

I was able to read a total of six books this month, of which I am still finishing the sixth one as I write this blog post but will still include it in this month’s wrap-up.

Title: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Author: Ransom Riggs

My rating: 3 stars

I regret not having to review this so here is just an overview of what I thought about it:

I have an unpopular opinion with this book so this serves as a disclaimer for you who loved the book and don’t agree with opinions against it. I read this book because I decided to dare myself into reading a scary book in time for Halloween. I have started reading it then but I finished it on November so that is why this is included in this list. I would have wanted to like this book more than I appreciate it now since I found the book a bit hyped so I had quite high expectations with this. Unfortunately, I found the book a little anti-climactic for me especially since the build-up was felt more on the beginning of the book and didn’t follow through for me as the book progressed. As I was reading the ending, I wasn’t inclined to read the next book even though the ending makes me curious, but apparently not curious enough.

I do like some parts of the book especially the fact that it did spook me to an extent that I was too much of a scaredy cat to continue reading it late at night. I found the pictures very fascinating as well as the stories behind them and all the peculiarity of all of Miss Peregrine’s “children” as I address them. It was an interesting story so I still decided to rate it at least 3 stars.

images[1]Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses

Author: Sarah J. Maas

My rating: 5 stars

I wrote a review about this amazing book, of which you could read here if you want. THIS BOOK WAS AMAZEBALLS. I need not say more. This is a book I highly recommend because I’d like all of you to experience the beauty of Sarah J. Maas’s books for yourselves. 😀

Melophobia.Final[1]Title: Melophobia

Author: James Morris

My rating: 4 stars

This is the second time an author approached me for a review of his book (I didn’t get to post a review of the first one since I didn’t have a blog yet then). You could see my review of it here. The premise and the plot of this novel are really interesting. I enjoyed reading this and though it’s not Christmas-y in any way, I’d still recommend it to you.

Author: Veronica Roth

My rating: 3.5 stars

So this the second book of the Divergent series and I had high expectations for this especially because of the hype it got and still gets. I looked back on how I felt when I was reading the book which was okay. It wasn’t great, though, but I still enjoyed reading it for the most part.

I don’t know if it’s just me but I found it easier to delve into the world Divergent narrates rather than Insurgent. I mean I’m all for uprisings for utilitarianistic causes but I found this book with too much of it and a heavier ambience that I disconnected a bit. I can’t pinpoint or put into words what exactly I had a problem with, really, but generally, 3.5 stars is the highest I could give this.

Offical-Allegiant-CoverTitle: Allegiant

Author: Veronica Roth

My rating: 4 stars

All I can say for this is that towards the end of the book, I cried for a good 30 minutes and I have Veronica Roth to thank for it. I’ll most probably write a review for this so I could express my feels to its full extent.

Heroes_of_Olympus_-_The_Son_of_NeptuneTitle: Son of Neptune

Author: Rick Riordan

My rating: (Still reading this but so far, I’ll give it 3 stars)

I’m only halfway done with this but I’m happy to say Percy’s baaaaack! And Grover! And Annabeth! Plus I met new characters I really like and I’ll write a review about this too when I’m done and I’m excited to share it with you guys 😀

  • I will be buddy reading these books with these fantastic people; Bianca and Trisha (click their names to visit their blog links. You’re welcome 😉 )

Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

  • I’ve heard so many good reviews about this which makes me even more excited to pick up this book and finally get to read it.

If I still have some spare time, I’d like to read

  1. Awesome TBR for December! I read The Grisha trilogy and Six of Crows last month as a buddy read too and it was pretty awesome. Okay, it wasn’t because I read too fast to have proper buddy reads…but it was nice having people who were reading the book at the same time 😀 I hope you enjoy it! Six of Crows is definitely as epic as everyone says it is!
